Parent Meeting

Tonight's parent meeting begins at 5:30pm in the gym. Please come a few minutes early to collect the paperwork and begin to look over it. The meeting will last about 45 minutes.

All paperwork MUST be complete and turned in no later than Friday, August 20 for your child to participate in Sound Effects.

Auditions are complete

Auditions for the 2010/2011 school year have been completed. All 4th graders have auditioned as well as 3rd graders that were highly recommended by their 2nd grade teacher.

Selection letters will go home the 2nd week of school in August!

First Place!!

We won!! First place in our division! A gold rating! A perfect score! The kids did an incredible job and we had such a lovely day. I'm so proud. We got a perfect score - a first for an elementary chorus for this competition!

And. . . our registration is already on file for next years competition! Save the Date - May 14, 2011!

I'm going to miss the fourth graders so much. Please be sure to come and visit.

Holiday World Schedule

Holiday World Schedule
All times are Central Standard Time (CDT)
Park Hours for May 15, 2010:
o Holiday World 9:30am – 7:30pm
o Splashin’ Safari 10:30am – 6:30pm
Departure from HBWE – 6:00am SHARP
Arrival at Holiday World – approximately 9:00am
Return to main gate at 11:15am to prepare for performance
Performance at 12:15pm
Lunch together after the performance at 12:45pm
Free to roam the parks from 1:15pm until 7:00pm
Assemble at the front gate to leave for home at 7:00pm
Depart for HBWE at 7:30pm
Arrive at HBWE at approximately 10:30pm

What should I bring?
Wear Sound Effects t-shirt, jeans, and tennis shoes on the bus
If desired, bring a change of clothes for the park after we perform. (You may wear your Sound Effects shirt if you’d like.)
Towel, MODEST swimsuit (please no bikinis or speedos) if you plan on visiting Splashin’ Safari. Sunscreen is provided in the park for free.
Extra money for one meal if desired. (We will eat snacks on the bus to and from the park, and eat our buffet meal around 12:45pm. Don’t forget that drinks are unlimited and free all day long for everyone.)
Extra money for games or souvenirs if desired.
A camera (optional)

Please leave the following at home:
Electronic equipment including but not limited to: hand held game systems,iPods or MP3 players, cell phones, portable DVD players.
Two piece swimsuits (girls)
Speedo style or biker shorts swimsuits (boys)
Stuffed animals or toys

Reminder: The students will be responsible for their own items. Please do not send anything with your child that is irreplaceable or expensive.

Deadlines

The first two registration fee deadlines have both past. If you have not yet sent in your registration donation for parents and siblings, please send $25 for each person as soon as possible.

The next payment due date is March 15. All remainders are due at that time. Feel free to begin sending in payments as soon as you'd like. Please contact me if you have any questions.

The due dates are fast approaching! The buses only have about 15 more spots on them that haven't been reserved, so I hope that you e-mailed me the reservation number for your family. A couple of side notes:

** If you plan on attending the all-you-can-eat meals, you must purchase your tickets through me. As I understand it, the buffet will not be available to purchase separately at the park.

** If you do not plan on your student riding the bus back home after our day, you will be asked to sign a release before the bus leaves. I would prefer that all singers ride the bus on the way to Holiday World unless you are driving up on Friday night.

Singer's Registration forms and money due - Monday, February 1 - $25
(In the event of a snow day, the money will be due on the next day that we return to school.)

I will be sending home a notification with your student late next week to communicate with you how much money I have received as well as how many reservations I have for your family. If there are any discrepancies, please let me know.

Holiday World Snapshot

The trip is ON!! I'm so excited and hope you are too. Please check back often for updates and reminders on due dates for registration and payments.
Our trip is planned for May 15, 2010. We'll leave school at 6:00am by coach bus. We'll sing at the park and enjoy lots of fun rides and times together. Please reserve this trip for Sound Effects members and their immediate family members in order to encourage unity within the Sound Effects.

Chaperone/sibling with bus price - $50
Chaperone/sibling without bus price - $31

Friday, March 12, 2010 - Cancellation date for full refund

Monday, March 15, 2010 - Remainder of registration due (singers $35, chaperone/sibling $25 or $6 depending on transportation choice)

If a student or chaperone cancellation is not received by March 12, no refund will be given.
